The Pains of Being Kyle Kendrick

First came the elaborate prank in Spring Training of 2008, when Kyle was fooled into believing that he’d been traded to a team in Japan.

Then came trips to the minors, trips to the bullpen, and being left off the postseason roster.

Most recently, he was the odd man out when the Phils signed Cliff Lee, giving them six starters to fill five rotation spots.

Now comes this indignity:

Really, Inquirer, you couldn’t find a picture of Kendrick that didn’t have the ball over his face?

Sue,
Maybe Kendricks is getting ready for a 2011 Tour as the “Unknown Ballplayer” ? But unlike the Unknown Comic from the “Gong Show”, Kyle uses a rawlings ball attached to his nose to hide his real idendity. Or maybe he can become a Super Heroe…..butr not sure what his power would be….yet.
The guy is the Rodney Dangerfield of the Phillies….Got punked thinking he was traded for a hot dog eater, must have been late for dinner once too often (rotation). and was lewft off the VIP list (post season)……Hopefully he doesn’t have to go to Razzles and get in a fight like Hamels to get noticed again………But I digress.
I really hope they finally find a good solid plan for a guy who has endured more than his share of…..” just missed” opportunities.

When I first saw that pic I thought he was blowing a giant bubble! So glad you told us it was a ball. LOL.

Renegade – I wonder if Kendrick wouldn’t benefit from the proverbial “change of scenery”. For all the back and forth between majors and minors, rotation and bullpen, I think he doesn’t instill a lot of confidence in the fans or the management.

Jane – Now that would be a talent, blowing a huge bubble in mid-pitch!

AHAHAHAHAHA! I literally LOL’d on that pic. Nice. Hate to see what Brad Lidge circa 2009′s pic would be.

That was a classic prank. Hilarious, except for Kendrick I suppose. And that photo looks like he’s about to take a line drive to the face, not like he just released a pitch. It sounds like he needs consistent scenery more than a change of scenery – bullpen, minors, another team, one place he can stay for a few months and work things out.

This is a very simple game…
